I was born on 26 May 1995 in East London. I started school at Cranberry Primary, progressed to Port Rex Technical High School and currently is a student at MSC Business College.
I started my cycling career at the age of 12-years and ever since has never stopped. I had big dreams to climb up the ladder of cycling to become a professional cyclist pursing my dreams. I have great self-respect and is capable of creating a masterpiece. I always seek perfection in myself. I have great creativity, is a person of peace and serenity. I’m always looking forward never back. I may stumble but never fall. One of the biggest highlights in cycling was when I won South African Championships under 14 years in 2009 in Oudtshoorn and from there l only had peaked performances, winning many races as per personal profile. I started the year 2013 on a very high note. In February 2013 I won SA Junior Road Race in Nelspruit Mpumalanga.
Sadly our house was gutted down by fire on 9 March 2013 a day after I returned from SA Championships in Cape Town where I was also crowned as SA Junior Track Champ. We have lost everything including my bicycle and all valuable sports equipment. During July and August I was competing in World Championships in Glasgow.
Back in SA I was involved in a major crash during a race in September 2013, 4 days before my departure to Italy to represent South Africa during World Championships. The injuries never held me back. I competed in the Boxing Paarl Day Race together with the Elites gaining 4th place and 1st Junior home. Whilst preparing for South African Track Champions 2014 where l held the position of Junior Track Champ. I was involved in a major accident whereby I was knocked over off my bicycle by a car which left me with a Traumatic Brain Injury with right hemi-paresis. I recovered remarkably in the Life Rehabilitation Hospital whilst treated by all the multi-disiplinary team.
Due to my previous successes and never give up attitude l believe l will still reach all my goals. To live life to the fullest we need to make the most of every opportunity that comes our way during the phases of life. I have always tried to look at the opportunities not the setbacks nor the challenges. I am blessed with wonderful parents, a brother as enthusiastic as myself, a mentor, a role model Juan Scholtz and his beautiful wife for their selfless support. I am looking past obstacles and use them as stepping stones to the next level.I am having great medical expertise at my side, together with prayer balm, healing mercies and the support of my team, plays a huge role in my recovery.
